Linda Huber

I am a PhD candidate at the University of Michigan School of Information. I work with Dr. Silvia Lindtner and am a researcher with Center for Ethics, Society, and Computing. I am also a member of the Platform Economies Research Network (PERN), affiliated with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society (ADM+S)

I use qualitative research methods to understand emerging digital business models, and their impacts on worker and vital public infrastructures. Currently, I am focused examining the impacts of datafication, platformization, and automation on the U.S. healthcare industry. This research contributes to feminist STS (science & technology studies), economic anthropology, and critical data studies.

🖊️ I am also an incoming associate editor for Big Data & Society.

Before my Ph.D., I worked as a qualitative UX research consultant at Ipsos in NYC. I have an M.A. from Georgetown University’s Communication Culture & Technology program, and a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College.
